Larry Joe Ellison

Larry Joe Ellison passed away January 17th, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 85. He was born in Indianapolis, IN, on January 20th, 1938, and raised by his father Obie Ellison and grandparents Adeline and Andrew Ellison in and around Oakford and Kokomo. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1958. He met and married the love of his life, Vicky Lee Dotterer in 1960 and was married 47 years until Vicky passed in 2007. Together they had two children, Doug Ellison and Laura Ellison Shahan.

Larry was a hard worker all his life beginning in high school on the farm, delivering milk for Med-O-Bloom, and finally driving a semi before retiring from General Motors. He was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church for many years. When not golfing at Wildcat, he loved watching the Colts, Pacers, and Boilers, going to the horse races, casinos, and all forms of auto racing with his favorite driver being AJ Foyt. He had many close friends and saw them often at the Wednesday Wendy’s Crew and the Morning Panera Gang. He created wonderful family memories with many Florida beach vacations, Michigan snowmobile trips, and Mississinewa boating weekends.

Larry is survived by his son, Doug, his wife Susan, his daughter, Laura, her husband Jason and his half-sisters, Judy Berger and Chiquita Kuntz, sister-in-law Karen Jones and husband Steve, 5 grandchildren, Mitchell and Zach Shahan, Ashleigh, Spencer and Cassidy Rose Ellison. He will be greatly missed.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 am to Noon Monday January 22, 2024, at Stout & Son Funeral Home – Russiaville Chapel, 200 East Main Street, Russiaville, IN 46979. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday at Sunset Memory Garden with Pastor Joyce Harris officiating. Contributions may be made in Larry’s name to First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Mary Elpha (Suter) Gang

Mary Elpha (Suter) Gang, 92, of Kokomo, passed away 3:47 pm Thursday January 18, 2024, at Waterford Place in Kokomo. She was born on February 12, 1931, the daughter of the late Gerald and Elpha (Abney) Suter. On September 9, 1947, she married Robert Gang, and he preceded her in death on September 30, 2008. She married Phillip Phillips on August 10, 2019, and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2019.

Mary attended Eastern School Corp growing up. She retired from Delco Electronics as a custodian. She had her own doll crafting business. Mary had a smile that could light up any room and she was so happy. She adored her family and was a grandma to everybody. She was a prankster and loved playing practical jokes on people. Mary was a member of the euchre club, Friday night card club, Delco hobby club, and #292 Retirees Union. She was a competitive card-player and enjoyed gambling. She was passionate about her beloved dog named Hero.

Mary is survived by her children, Susan (Greg) Lassiter, Kathy (Buck) Kelley, Jerry (Candis) Gang; sister, Roberta Whiteman; grandchildren, Andrea Thomas, Missy Lassiter, Ted Driver, Nickie (Phillip) McBee, Jennifer Gang, James (Kelly) Kuntz, Sherry (Tim) Burlingame, Stacy (Frank) Macomber; son-in-law, Gary Kuntz; Mary was blessed with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren with twins on the way.

Dorothy Jane Catt

Dorothy Jane Catt, 78, of Kokomo, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at Community Regional Health in Kokomo. She was born in Kokomo, on September 21, 1945, to Ernest and Hazel (Watkins) McCauley. On December 28, 1971, Dorothy married David Catt, in Greentown, and he preceded her in death on October 29, 2019.

Dorothy graduated from Kokomo High School in 1963. She went on to work in the Audit and Speakers Department of Delco Electronics, until she retired after 31 years of dedication. In her younger years, Dorothy and David loved to travel and camp, especially in their 5th wheel, as well as snowmobiling in Michigan and fishing. For many years, she shared a small business called Nanny’s Craft Garden, with her sister. Dorothy never missed any of her grandchildren’s sporting events; she loved being a grandma and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life. She also had great love for her dog, Dolly.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Tracie (Kenny) Zimmerman, Connie (Mike) Clark, and Darrin (Lisa) Catt; grandchildren, Brandon (Krista) Catt, Kendra (Brian) Dunford, Lindsay (Josh) Ray, Courtney (Chase) Mulkey, and Tyler (Alexis) Catt; great-grandchildren, Lileigh, Aiden, Zander, Ruby, Colin, Rylee, Lucy, Nora, Hazel, Charlotte, Kyndall, Katelynn, and Keyton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; grandson, Matthew Clark; 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 4:00 pm at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Harry L. “Buck” Catt

Harry L. “Buck” Catt, 89, of Kokomo, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Community Howard Regional Hospital in Kokomo. He was born May 14, 1934, in Kokomo to Benjamin F. and Viola A. (Stafford) Catt. On June 18, 1955, in Belford, New Jersey, he married Mary Ann Miller, and she survives.

Buck served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He came home and started his family with his bride Mary Ann and went to work for Continental Steel as a supervisor. After the closing of the mill, he drove a school bus for Kokomo Center Schools and worked as a Security Guard at Delco. Buck loved sports and played fastpitch softball for the famous Punchy’s squad “Kokomo’s Elite Softball Team” for many years. He also enjoyed coaching at Northside and became a beloved coach to all the kids that played for him over the years. You could still find him umpiring games at over 70 years of age. He volunteered for Goodfellows and the Kokomo Rescue Mission. He loved playing golf, with his friends and truth be known he loved their companionship even more. He also loved playing cards with friends and family, camping, fishing, and woodworking. He was an avid IU basketball fan, a diehard Cubs fan and enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts. He was a member of the American Legion Post #6 in Kokomo.

Surviving family include his wife Mary Ann Catt of Kokomo; his children, Brenda Mundy, Robert J. Catt, Jeff (Kim) Catt, and Stephanie Catt all of Kokomo. Surviving grandchildren include, Autumn Mundy (Darren Bigler), Tristan (Daniel) Clouthier, Zachery (Yuri) Catt, Jeremy (Marina) Catt, and Anthony (Sydney) Catt. Great grandchildren include Kamron Nutter, Bryson Clouthier, Hiro Catt, Aria Catt and Elizabeth Catt. He is also survived by several niecesand nephews. Buck was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Lee Catt, grandson, Jacob Todd Catt, granddaughter, Jessika Catt, son-in-law, Ronald Mundy, five brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Jeff Russell officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in North Union Cemetery in Howard County. Jeffrey David Powell

Jeffrey David Powell, 63, Russiaville, Indiana passed away on January 17, 2024. He was born on April 30, 1960 in Kokomo, IN the son of John David Powell Jr. and Joyce Jean (Tate) Powell. He was a welder at Wabash National for 22 years. He absolutely adored and loved his wife, Darlene. Jeff loved coin collecting, magic tricks, trains, cracking jokes, and never met a stranger. He was also an avid gun collector. One of his favorite things to do was play with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are her 3 children and 8 grandchildren; son, Jason (Jessalyn) Powell and children, Joshua and Aubrey; son, Adam (Adriane) Powell and children, Carson, Caleigh, Camryn; daughter, Heather (Todd Echelbarger) Powell-Echelbarger and children, Jacob Powell, Jaden and Addison Echelbarger; great-granddaughter, Indigo-Storm Darlene Powell; brothers, Brian (Mary) Powell, Greg (Kim) Powell, Russell (Faith) Powell; special niece/daughter, Ashley (Danny) Coalburn; and many nieces and nephews.

Sheila Diane Jones

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sheila Diane Jones, Friday, January 12, 2024. Sheila was born April 22, 1951, to the late Luther Smith and Holly (Walker) Smith Lykins. In 1969 she married Roger Dale Jones.

Sheila had beautiful handwriting, she enjoyed reading, writing, and a good movie or TV show. She was a great cook having worked in food service. She was a bartender and had worked in childcare. She had a great sense of humor ...she was a very proud, strong, intuitive, and devoted mother.

Sheila is survived her daughters, Kimberly (Dorman E.) Dunson, and Tracey Trinoskey both of Kokomo; son, Destrey Jones of Kokomo; siblings, Karen Morrison of Kokomo, Sharon King of Indianapolis, and Terry (Diana) Lykins of Arizona; grandchildren, Dorman P. “Lil Dorm” (Jennifer) Dunson, Holly (Curley) D. Trinoskey; great-grandchildren, Gryffin, and Masen Dunson; and many nieces & nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her seven siblings, Shirley, Leslie, Janice, Sandy, Mike “Buddy”, Marjarie, and Jeffery.

She loved all her precious pets, past and present, Franchise, Shie, Dollar, Daisy May, and Dazza; also her grand pets.

In keeping with Sheila’s wish, a private service will take place with her family at a later date. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation.
