Weight Watchers Bagel Recipe

The secret to these 2 Ingredient Weight Watchers Bagels is fat-free Greek yogurt. Fat free Greek yogurt is 0 points on the Weight Watchers Freestyle plan and is one of the main ingredients in these bagels. The bagels are nutritious since Greek yogurt provides a protein boost.

The crazy thing is that you cannot taste the yogurt at all in these bagels. Give these Greek yogurt bagels a try and see for yourself! You won't believe that you are able to eat these and stay on the program.

These are called 2-Ingredient Bagels since the dough is made from two ingredients - flour and fat-free Greek yogurt. You do add some toppings, like egg wash and seasoning, so technically, it might be more than two.

2 Ingredient Dough Recipes

The magic of this two-ingredient dough doesn't stop with these bagels. Two-ingredient dough is very versatile for those on Weight Watchers. It can be used to make pizza, cinnamon rolls, and pretzels - endless possibilities.

Ingredients For 2 Ingredient Bagels

  • Self rising flour - These bagels use self-rising flour which you can buy pre-made or make yourself. I make my own self-rising flour and have always had wonderful results. If you don't have self-rising flour, add 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder and ¼ teaspoon of salt to each cup of all-purpose flour.
  • Fat free Greek yogurt - Plain, non-fat Greek yogurt adds moisture to the bagels and is a good source of protein and calcium.
  • Optional - Everything Bagel Seasoning - This seasoning is made with poppy seeds, toasted sesame seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt. It adds a crunch and a burst of flavor to the bagels.

How to Make 2 Ingredient Weight Watchers Bagels

To make these low fat bagels, mix self-rising flour and Greek yogurt in a large mixing bowl. The dough will be sticky. Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and gently knead until smooth. Divide into 4 equal parts and shape into a bagel shape.

Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet (either covered in parchment paper or sprayed with nonstick cooking spray), brush them with an egg wash, and add any desired toppings. Bake these yummy bagels until they are golden brown.

What Toppings Can I Use For Weight Watchers Bagels?

I love topping these with Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel seasoning. There are lots of everything seasoning out there, but my favorite is the one from Trader Joe's.

If you have never used everything bagel seasoning, you are in for a treat! It tastes amazing and can be used on bagels, eggs, avocado toast, and so much more! You can also top your bagels with sesame seeds or poppy seedsif you prefer.

Tips for WW Bagels

Tip 1: You will be dividing the dough into 4 equal parts. Use a food scale to make sure you have 4 equal pieces.
Tip 2: Experiment with new flavors! Try using different mix-ins or toppings to create your own unique bagels.
Tip 3: Brushing the bagels with a beaten egg before you bake them helps them brown and helps any toppings stick.

How Do You Store Homemade Bagels?

Storing bagels correctly is important if you want to keep them fresh and tasting great. Bagels can be stored in an airtight container to prevent them from drying out or getting hard. They can be kept at room temperature for up to two days.

You can also freeze these bagels. To freeze, slice them in half, wrap each bagel in plastic wrap, and place them in a freezer bag. They will stay fresh for up to three months. They can be toasted or warmed in the oven directly from the freezer.

Do I Need Yeast To Make These Bagels?

The beauty of these bagels is that you don't need yeast. Instead of waiting around for dough to rise (because who has time for that?), you can get to the baking.

The bagel dough will rise because of the self-rising flour. These bagels are quick to make and deliciously chewy. They're perfect for when you get a craving for bagels and you just can't wait.

Do I Have To Use Greek Yogurt In These Bagels?

Plain Greek yogurt works best since it has the best consistency when combined with flour. The fat content of the Greek yogurt doesn't matter, but you must adjust the points accordingly if using yogurt with fat.

Plain Greek yogurt works so well in this recipe because of its consistency. It adds the right amount of moisture to the bagels. You would never know these bagels were made with yogurt since it doesn't affect the taste.

Can I Freeze WW 2 Ingredient Dough?

You might be tempted to make the dough ahead of time and defrost it when you want bagels. But I wouldn't advise it. This dough does not freeze well, and its texture suffers when thawed.

Making the dough from scratch doesn't take very long, so you can have it fresh whenever the mood strikes. As long as you have the ingredients you need on standby, you can make this dough when you plan to use it.
