2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado price and specs: Prices rise across the board (2024)

The new 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado (250 Series) will be up to $12,500 more expensive than the car it replaces when it goes on sale later in 2024.

Toyota Australia today confirmed local pricing for the 250 Series Prado will start from $72,500 before on-road costs in base GX guise – a $9670 increase compared to the outgoing 150 Series.

This is the smallest price rise across the board. The Prado GXL is now priced from $79,990 before on-roads (+$10,460), the Prado VX starts from $87,400 before on-roads (+$10,552), and the flagship Kakadu begins at $99,990 before on-roads (+$12,522).

The range has also expanded with the return of the Prado Altitude, slotting between the VX and Kakadu with a $92,700 before on-roads price tag.

All Toyota LandCruiser Prado variants are powered by the same 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine as before, retaining its 150kW and 500Nm outputs but gaining 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance.

The Prado’s turbo-diesel engine is mated to a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission (up two ratios from the outgoing model), which incorporates low-range gearing and sends power to all four corners through a full-time all-wheel drive system.

Order books for the new LandCruiser Prado are yet to open.

Drivetrain

On paper, the engine in the new Prado looks very similar to the outgoing model.

There are two important additions, however, first of which is a 48V mild-hybrid system. It doesn’t boost power, but it does remove strain from ancillary functions by adding a motor generator, 48V battery, and DC/DC converter.
